The primary objective of the intervention at the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) in Cantanhede was the waterproofing and rehabilitation of the existing concrete structures in permanent contact with drinking water.
To ensure watertightness and structural integrity, the repair approach utilized Penetron Standard. This integral crystalline waterproofing system is applied to the concrete surface. Its reactive chemical compounds penetrate deeply into the structure's capillary network, reacting with moisture and free lime to form insoluble crystals. This reaction permanently seals the concrete's pores, capillaries, and micro-cracks, providing high resistance to effluents and preventing degradation as well as the ingress of aggressive agents.
