PENETRON ADMIX® SB (a crystalline integral waterproofing and durability admixture in a soluble bag) is added to the cement mix at the time of batching.
The various patented and active chemicals in PENETRON ADMIX® SB react with the moisture in fresh concrete and with the by-products of cement hydration to trigger a reaction that generates an insoluble crystalline formation throughout the pores and capillary tracts of the concrete. As a result, the concrete is permanently sealed against the penetration of water or liquids from any direction.
However, concrete treated with PENETRON ADMIX® SB will continue to allow vapor to pass through the structure (i.e., the concrete will be able to “breathe”). Even after the concrete has cured, PENETRON ADMIX® SB remains embedded in the concrete and will reactivate in the presence of moisture to seal capillary tracts and fine cracks. The concrete is also protected against deterioration due to adverse environmental conditions.
